Water main shutoff

A burst pipe, a tap or toilet that won't stop running, or a plumber telling you to isolate the house before they arrive.

Location

The water meter and shutoff are alongside driveway 2 — the gravel driveway, not the main one. Standing at the top of the driveway facing the street, it's on the right-hand side, just before the small footpath. Look for the patch of grey gravel; the meter sits in it.

Shutting it off

Valve type and turn direction haven't been documented yet. Next time you're at the meter, check whether it's a ball valve (quarter-turn — handle in line with the pipe is open, across it is closed) or a tap-style valve, and note which way closes it. Update this section once confirmed — a wrong guess here is worse than no instruction at all.
